Kev Foster will run across the European Alps in support of the Charity CALM

Kev Foster Alps - News - MLM

Kev Foster, Managing Director of the Acoustics business at MLM Group has entered the GORE-TEX® Transalpine-Run, which is considered to be one of the toughest and most spectacular trail-running races in the world.

The course covers a distance of 263km, which includes 15,417m of climbing and 14,313 of descending over 7 gruelling stages, starting in Germany and finishing in Italy.

The race, which will run from 3 – 9 September, is normally the preserve of Elite Athletes, but with the support of MLM Group Partners and Colleagues, Kev is confident he will succeed in his goal to complete the course, whilst raising money and awareness for the charity CALM.

Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is an award-winning charity dedicated to preventing male suicide, the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK. In 2015, 75% of all UK suicides were male, with over 12 men taking their life each day on average. If the money and awareness raised by this challenge prevents just one of these unnecessary deaths, it will have been worthwhile.

Given the remote and technical nature of the terrain, the race is run in teams of two. Kev will be running with Jamie Ramsay, who has supported the work of CALM for many years and is an internationally recognised adventurer and endurance athlete.

Having previously completed a 17,000km solo and unsupported run from Vancouver to Buenos Aires; Jamie brings a lot experience to the team, but also pressure for Kev, who is training hard to make sure he can keep up!

Neil Cooper, CEO of MLM Group comments:

We are proud to support such a good cause and wish Kev every success in this challenging pursuit. At MLM Group we believe we can make a difference by supporting charities and community events and encourage our people to take part.
