MLM Building Control assist in an emergency project at Royal London Hospital

In response the recent Coronavirus pandemic, MLM Building Control have been assisting Wates Group with an emergency project at the Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel, to boost the number of beds available for sufferers of COVID-19.

Government construction sector guidelines state that projects for the support of COVID-19 related activities are critical in the current crisis. This essential project, commencing on 30 March, has involved the development of two dormant floors at Royal London Hospital to create ICU bed stations, increasing capacity to almost 180 beds and 117 clinical support rooms to accommodate suffers of the COVID-19 virus.

MLM were appointed directly by St Barts NHS Trust on behalf of Wates Group to carry out Building Control, Fire Engineering and Principal Designer roles. Being a part of this highly collaborative project has involved working around the clock alongside Wates and fellow contractors to complete within a timescale of six weeks.
