Approved Inspector MLM Building Control Ltd. have successfully been awarded accreditation to ISO/IEC 17020 : 2012 by the International Accreditation Board – ANAB. The accreditation was granted on 21 May 2018.

Providing services as a Corporate Approved Inspector since 1998, MLM Building Control Ltd. are one of the largest Building Control bodies in England and Wales, and achieved the ISO/IEC 17020 international accreditation standard following a rigorous external on-site assessment of its quality management, procedural and business processes.

As stated on ANAB’s website, inspection bodies under ISO/IEC 17020 provide assurance of a technically competent service and consistently reliable results, reducing costs and lowering risks. Accreditation to ISO/IEC 17020 allows the organisation to demonstrate integrity, reliability and technical competence as well as compliance with internationally recognised good practices.

Jason White, Director, who led the application process for ISO/IEC 17020, explains how achieving this prestigious accreditation standard will benefit the company:

“This is a great achievement for MLM at a critical time within our industry where control of standards are being scrutinised.

ISO/IEC 17020 not only incorporates the same quality management system requirements of ISO 9001, but will benefit our customers, as we can now put greater emphasis on managing impartiality, conflicts of interest as well as the technical competence of our Building Control Surveyors and inspection processes.

Whilst fully aligning with our CICIAIR license obligations as an Approved Inspector, achieving this standard also externally accredits our ability to manage and deploy the appropriate level of skills for the work we are assessing.”

To maintain accreditation, MLM Building Control will be audited annually by ANAB to ensure it continues to meet the ISO 17020 standard.
