From the Studio Floor – Call for Artists

Call For artists - News - MLM

From the Studio Floor, a National Exhibition of art, is calling for contributions for its upcoming show, which will be showcasing the collective artwork of local artists and art lovers in Suffolk this autumn.

Sponsored by MLM, From the Studio Floor is the second in a series of shows that are dedicated to bringing the works of artists together and spotlighting hidden talent. Taking place over three days in November 2015, the exhibition will provide an informal and relaxed setting, featuring a selection of new unseen conceptual works, etchings, instillations, sculptures, drawings and paintings for the public to see.

The theme is ‘Suffolk’ and the exhibition is welcoming contributions from anyone with a connection to the region, whether they live, work or derive inspiration from the area. The exhibition is an opportunity for artists to tantalise the town with one never-before seen piece that they are working on.

“If you have never applied to an art exhibition, do not regularly sell your work or haven’t had the opportunity to exhibit recently, now is the perfect time to do it. We want to promote Suffolk art and encourage all to apply, whatever your creative talent. It is a great way to meet other artists and discuss new ideas and concepts,” said Jessica Oliver, Artist and Curator at From the Studio Floor. “With thanks to our sponsors, MLM, we’ve secured a wonderful venue for the exhibition, Gallery 3 in the heart of Ipswich – we just need your help to fill it.”

Artists are invited to get involved by contributing just one piece of artwork, either commissioned especially for the show or from an existing series. The closing date for submissions is midnight on Monday, October 12. It is free to enter and applications can be made at: www.fromthestudiofloor.co.uk

Speaking about the exhibition, Jessica continues: “We initially launched From the Studio Floor at Anise Gallery, Bermondsey, where we displayed a collection of various artwork from London artists. It was so successful, with such momentum building around the show we wanted to grow the exhibition nationally. With such a rich history of arts in the area and for myself growing up around such beautiful landscapes, we wanted to bring the show to Suffolk, to showcase what the region has to offer and that artists can produce great art, wherever they are based.”

Organisers will select between 15-20 projects, which will be showcased in the gallery and available for the public to purchase. From the Studio Floor will run from Thursday, November 12 until Sunday, November 15 at Gallery 3, Cornhill, Ipswich.
