MLM provided a full range of multidisciplinary services to Farrans (Construction) for the development of a new Waste Transfer Station (WTS) in Chelmsford. This was one of five new WTS sites being developed across the county.

MLM, via Lanpro, were responsible for obtaining planning permission for the facility including the production of all planning reports as part of the planning application. Planning permission was granted in August 2013.

The site is capable of handling 51,250 tonnes of municipal waste per year. The facility comprises a 60m x 34m Waste Transfer Station with 5m high reinforced concrete pushwalls, together with a welfare office, weighbridge office with 18m long In/Out weighbridges, sprinkler tank, staff parking and an external concrete service yard.

The site was a brownfield site on the outskirts of Braintree.

The site included operations by Braintree District Council who were partly relocated to facilitate the construction of the new WTS.

The facility was handed over to Essex County Council in December 2014.
