Working on a Design and Build basis for ISG Jackson, MLM designed a flood protection wall to go around a secure data centre. The flood wall and flood gates were designed to protect the building and contents against an extreme 1 in a 1,000 year flood event plus climate change allowance and freeboard. The wall and barriers were also designed to resist impact by vehicles for security purposes.
The project also involved providing fuel storage tanks of 320,000L capacity with a reinforced concrete base, bund steel framed building, access road and major surface water drainage upgrades within two secure sites. Working closely with the client and contractor, MLM advised on various design options taking into account buried services locations and the need to keep the data centres fully operational and secure at all times. Site locations and client name withheld for security reasons.
Key Features
- Impact resistant flood wall and gates.
- Fuel storage for stand-by power generation.
- Risk reduction for secure Data Centre.
- Surface water pumping stations and flood risk reduction.
