MLM provided Structural, Civil and Building Services consultancy advice for this project. MLM also provided Project Management and Contract Administrator services.

The project comprises two distinct components:

  • The main HWRC comprises a new split-level facility for household waste recycling comprising 12 skip bays. The public load the skips from the higher level using either the steel walkways (with recycled plastic boards) or from the main high-level platform. The lower area is accessible only to authorised staff who can move and replace skips as necessary.
  • The second component of this project involved a new Re-Use Facility. This building comprised a two-storey steel framed building. Internally the facility comprises offices, workshops, unloading bay, toilets, kitchen and staff mess area. The workshops were equipped to allow continuous testing of cookers, washing machines, etc, paint drying areas and furniture repair. The facility allows old household white goods and furniture to be repaired and reused within the community.
