A four-storey concrete frame for a new 2 Form Entry Free School accommodating 420 pupils aged 4-11 years. The building comprises a reinforced concrete flat slab construction in the location of an existing old police station which consisted of four storeys with a basement. Working closely with the design team and Client, the project was delivered in two phases and three weeks ahead of schedule, with the second phase undertaken with the school occupying the ground floor. The design provided a bright and modern school with a range of facilities for learning and play, including specialist practical classrooms on a challenging inner city site.

Key Features

  • Tight site boundaries and programme.
  • Demolition of an existing old police station with reinforced concrete basement.
  • Partial Client possession of the site for Phase 2.
