The project comprised a £7m scheme for screening, grit extraction and pumping station for raw sewage.

The scheme included construction of two deep cofferdams, on an existing pumping station site, adjacent to a gas works and the coast.

Working as civil engineering designers for the project in a framework agreement with the partnering team, MLM designed the civil engineering works including major temporary and permanent works and detailing of the architectural element of the project.

MLM provided geotechnical and contamination expertise on this project; this included design, supervising and interpretation of site investigations including pumping tests, assisting in the design of cofferdams, the de-watering schemes and assessing contamination risks to Health and Safety and the environment. MLM were retained during construction to advise on geotechnical and contamination issues.
