SEBRAE Sustainability Centre is the first building to hold BREEAM In Use Excellent rating in Latin America.

The building, located in Cuiabá which is in the North of Brazil, has been designed to take into account environmental design aspects relating to the climate through a vernacular architecture and passive design strategies.

The building has been inspired in the indigenous hut shape with double layer skin. Its oval shape helps to capture rainwater though the air gap between the concrete skins. This strategy also helps to cool down the concrete, consequently adjusting the indoor temperature.

The BREEAM In Use certification is applicable for buildings in operation. It has been designed to improve the physical aspects of the building, how it is managed and the interaction of the occupier and the building, including the building’s system and management policies.
