MLM is a growing successful multi-disciplinary engineering, environmental and compliance consultancy working throughout the UK and abroad on a vast array of interesting projects.  We aim to be great people to work with, for both our clients and employees.  We now have a position for a Principal Engineer (Infrastructure) in our Ipswich office due to our continued success and increasing workload.  This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to become part of a growing team and benefit from great career development prospects.

Our Infrastructure Teams undertake an interesting and wide variety of work.  Recent projects include; detailed design of adoptable infrastructure and property development for private and commercial clients, pre-planning flood risk and drainage strategies.

Your role would involve undertaking detailed design of Highway Works, adoptable and private drainage works, private roads, and other civil engineering design.  You will be able to support junior team members in the development of their design skills.  You will also be able to undertake drainage investigations, devise drainage strategies and undertake outline design to support planning stage flood risk and drainage assessment reports including preparing reports and drawings.  The role will be client facing so the successful candidate will have a proven ability to liaise in an effective and professional way with clients and others.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A relevant degree.
  • CEng status with the Institution of Civil Engineers (or be working towards).
  • Experience in drainage design including gaining technical approvals.
  • Experience in highway design including gaining technical approvals.
  • Knowledge and understanding of basic hydrology/drainage principles.
  • Experience of using technical software packages such as AutoCAD, MicroDrainage, Civil 3D and QGIS.
  • A demonstrably excellent standard of written and verbal English.
  • Knowledge of Flood Risk Assessments would be an advantage.
  • UK driving licence.
